LARES TREK

Wanting to go on an adventure? A place where Mountains run wide and deep and you are surrounded by endless beauty?

I can say Peru, Lares Trek delivers in spades! We didn’t see anyone for the three days we were in it other than the village people that live along the way. It was a dream that a river ran through it, for real though and it even dropped off the mountain ... as a waterfall... & we walked down beside it! Like a dream!

A Lake near the top of the mountain. It was a trek getting to this point but the fog set in right after we arrived and made for some amazing shots. This is only one but it was a breathtaking sight to see. Such a peaceful spot to be in!

At this point, we were on our way down the mountain and the water had fallen off into a waterfall that we followed down the mountain as well. You can see Mountains forever and feel like you are on top of the world, because, you almost are!

| The Dreamist Campsite Ever |

This went on for a while as we descended from the top of the Mountian, (15,700 ft). There was a river the entire way! If anyone knows me you know the delight that brought to me.
The campsite we were supposed to stay at was farther away and not even remotely close to as unbelievably gorgeous as this, but we were lucky enough to “ have “ to stay at this DREAM because one of our fellow hiking mates got injured and wasn’t able to make good time.
I seriously would have hated having to stay anywhere else. When we rounded the corner to the campsite the porters hadn’t pitched their tent yet and their horses were roaming the valley and their llama where roaming the hillside. It was literally like a dream.
The water ran through the campsite and there were two holes that water was running in as well.

While on our way to the Lares Trek we went to a village of native people that still make pottery and textiles to support themselves.

The City Square in Cusco the town we stayed at before leaving for the Lares Trek .. there were around 15 dogs running wild here every night. We asked who's they were and they said the people there let them roam free in the day to get food and they go back home at night. It was so fun to watch them play with each other. This was taken from an upstairs outside veranda that we ate dinner on one night before leaving for the hike.

Just prior to finishing the first day down the mountain we came across this outstanding view. You could seriously see forever here. The picture as always doesn't do it justice however it really was an endless view of The Andes!
